New Lunch Payment Site!

Parents- if you haven’t tried this yet… it’s fabulous! You can pay your child’s lunch fees online… and when your child’s account balance gets below a certain level, it will email you and let you know! Pure genius!  The site has changed to but if you were already using the old one ( then just use that login on the new site … don’t create a new account. Everything will transfer! Whew!

If you haven’t tried this yet, you’ll need your child’s ID number. Please call the school or write a note to your child’s teacher and we’ll send it to you! Then you’ll be all set to create a new account through!

Heads up!

Just a few things that are coming up next week: Monday, September 3rd is Labor Day– that’s a holiday for all of us!  I hope that brings you some family time- whether it’s barbecuing/grilling out or even the last chance to wear white shoes! (Is that still a rule?)

And Friday, September 7th is our school picture day! Don’t forget to wear a smile! We do need some parent volunteers to help out… if you are interested in helping, please call Lynn Caba, Administrative Assistant Extraordinaire,  at 736-8730!

Opening of school

Ahhhh… the sounds of children fill the air now at Lonnie B.! The teachers have been working very hard to establish procedures in the classroom. We’ve all been working hard to establish procedures in the hallways, cafeteria, recess, arrival and dismissal! We owe a big ThAnK yOu to all of our wonderful parents who constantly role model following procedures for our students. Just a few friendly reminders to help dismissal be smooth and FAST:
– Car Riders: please stay in your cars and follow the blue line around to pick up your child. Please make sure you use your hanging tag with your child’s name displayed on it. It helps tremendously! Please do NOT come to get your child from the inside. Mrs. Beaman or another adult will call your child from the car rider area! Please encourage your child to be a good listener so we can get that line MOOOOOVING!
– Walkers: Please make sure you stay in your car and line up behind the cross walk. Also, please park on the right hand side of the road, so that students who are in cars do NOT have to cross the street.
-If you must change transportation, please do so by 2:15pm. (call 736-8730). It gets busy in the afternoons and we need to make sure that your child and your child’s teacher gets the message!! Writing a note to the teacher is EVEN better!
Thank you so much for all your help! I’ve been so impressed with how patient and kind everyone has been so far.. even during dismissal on day 1! So glad to be at Lonnie B! I welcome your thoughts and suggestions to make our school even more fabulous!

Time for bed!

Where has August gone?? It is flying by at the speed of light and before you know it, students will be back in school on Thursday, August 23rd! If you haven’t started already, it’s time to start back on our school routines. One of the big differences with summer time and school time routines is BED time! I love the lazy days of summer—getting up later and staying up later! Now is the time, however, to start easing your children back into their normal “school time” bedtime. Research shows that the average child needs between 10-12 hours of sleep. We have LOTS to do at Lonnie B. this year, so we want to make sure your child is up for the challenge! You can even say that Mrs. Beaman told them it’s time for bed! (LOL…Think that will work?)

Can’t wait to meet you at our Buzz In next Tuesday, August 21st where you can meet your child’s teacher! A big thank you to our PTO who is working hard to get ready for our big night! Get some rest and see you soon!

School Supply List

Have you noticed that stores such as Wal-Mart and Target are starting to amp up their school supply areas? It’s getting to be that time of year! As a parent, I always try to snag the necessary items when they are on sale… so check out our Richland Two School Supply List here:

A lot of time and energy from teachers, parents, and administrators went in to try to streamline the supply lists in an effort to help relieve some of the financial burden on parents (especially in this economy), as well as, hopefully making it a little less complicated. 🙂

Here is the link to the district page, in case you have a middle schooler. Please let us know how you like this! We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Looking for our New-Bees!

Registration for Kindergarten is well underway! If you’ll be coming to the hive in August, (August 23rd to be exact) and haven’t registered yet… come on by! Your child must be 5 by September 1st. Please bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and 3 proofs of residence. Our fabulous registrar, Kisha Mickle, can help you! or call 803-736-8730. Of course, if you’re just new to the area… we welcome you too!

We will host a KinderBee Camp for all our incoming New-Bees from Monday, August 6th through Thursday, August 9th from 8:30-11:30. We are so excited to meet you! Please come by and see us!
